factions |
Factions are sort of a mix of what you might call trainer classes and the traditional definition of factions - Pokemon are not an entirely natural occurrence on Agresti at the present time, and thus, how one makes use of them is seen as a bit of a divisive social statement. There are 4 well known ones at present within society that your character will likely fall into - Fallers, Seekers, Preservers, and Deliverance. You can learn more about each one within the next post.
which is the good/bad one?
None of them - at least by default. Factions are just that - different groups of people with different aims and abilities. Although some groups may not get along with each other, it's entirely dependent on the people who inhabit them to shape them in a particular way on that level.
Similarly, the descriptions listed below largely encompass the public view of each type of trainer - your character doesn't have to match it exactly. People in a select group rarely are all the same, after all.
what are perks?
Perks are about what you'd expect - they're little bonuses that come with specializing in a particular faction. Pretty simple!
multi-factioning
Like Pokemon, people are not necessarily limited to a singular type or job - thus, given time and exposure, a person starting within one faction may in time obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to do work within another. This is not an easy road, however - to pick up a new Faction's skillset and the perks that come with it, one has to spend a great deal of time with people who already posses those traits.
To provide a more accurate form of measurement, that means that to have a character take up a second Faction, they must have 5 completed threads with 5 characters already involved in a particular faction, for a total of 25 threads divided evenly between at least 5 different members minimum. That isn't to say you cannot thread with people outside of those 5 if you want to obtain faction-hood - quite the contrary, in fact. Role playing with 25 characters in 25 different threads also counts towards this total just the same. It should be noted, however, that a thread with multiple characters in one thread with the same Faction will only count as 1 thread collectively instead of 1 for each head present. For memory's sake, a 'completed' thread is any thread over 10 posts long.
To sum it up, to have your character involve themselves in a second faction, you must have them involved in a thread with members of their chosen faction 25 times. Each thread counts for one point towards it - however, you may only thread with characters in the faction belonging to 1 specific member 5 times. This is to prevent cliquing and the usage of one particular person to farm experience from. No grinding!
The maximum number of Factions a character can be a part of is 2.
mastery
Of course, that isn't to say that one has to dual specialize - rather than being a jack of all trades, you may also choose for your character to just be... really, really good at whatever their chosen career path is. This is Mastery - with it, your character will obtain 1 additional special perk that corresponds with whatever their experience in Agresti has been so far. Obtaining Mastery of a Faction is a bit more difficult, however - like Multi-Factioning, there is a requirement for 25 threads with at least 5 characters in the same profession as they are, as well as 25 threads split between characters in different factions.
To put that into perspective, Mastery of your faction requires that you have at least 50 threads - 25 with characters in the same faction (which you can thread with and have count 5 times), and 25 characters outside of your faction (which you can thread with and have count a total of 5 times). Yikes. Nobody said the road was easy!
